Mo-Z Trail

Project completed 2007

The Mo Z Trail was named in memory of Marilyn “Mo” Zwang Ryan, who passed away July 24, 2006. Mo was an avid mountain biker who loved long-distance backcountry touring.

Through a grant from REI and volunteers, the trail was constructed Spring 2007 to provide mountain bikers an alternative route separate from trails used by hikers.

Mountain Bike Missoula (MTB) has an ongoing agreement with the City to provide occasional maintenance on the MoZ. Spring maintenance consists of smoothing brake bumps and ensuring proper drainage. In recent years MTB has been enhancing banked corners to create consistent flow as well as natural speed checks. Grade reversals have also been used to deter skidding and brake bumps.

MTB volunteers average approximately 50-70 hours a year on the Mo Z Trail.
